Scheme of the oil flow shut-off by means of creation of conditions for formation of clathrate hydrates from the oil-accompanying gases, sufficient for oil outflow blocking. It contains a sphere open from below and standing on the cylinder (column) which is submerged into sea bottom enveloping top of the well with radius R larger than the diameter D (D – diameter of well). The choice of the radius R is determined by requirement to obtain clathrate hydrates (‘hydrate dome’) sufficient for shutdown of the flow. This choice of the sphere radius R provides that near the cylinder edges hydrates will be close to sea bottom and therefore they will cover the oil under the dome. Such clathrate hydrates inside the dome will be sufficiently strong. Its strength can be increased by adding of cementing mixture into space of the dome. As far as we know, such mixture was used in trials to shut the oil well by pouring the mixture into well.
